What does Cloudflare protect a website from?+
Depending on configuration and plan, Cloudflare can help filter malicious requests, absorb DDoS traffic, enforce HTTPS, cache content and apply bot or rate-limit rules. It is one security layer, not a replacement for secure code, hosting and access controls.
Can Cloudflare accidentally block customers or search crawlers?+
Yes, overly aggressive bot or firewall rules can create false positives. We review rules and logs, test legitimate journeys and allow approved crawlers such as Googlebot and OAI-SearchBot where the business wants search access.
Do we still need backups if Cloudflare is enabled?+
Yes. Caching and traffic protection do not replace recoverable backups of website files, content and data. Backup frequency and retention should match how often the website changes and the impact of data loss.
Can you secure a website that has already been attacked?+
We can help assess configuration and improve protection, but an active compromise may require specialist incident response, forensic review and credential rotation. The first priority is containing the issue and preserving accurate evidence.
